Grandparents caring for children are often told by Social Services that they must apply for a Residence Order or a Special Guardianship order to secure the children’s placement with them.
It is vital that grandparent carers get specialised legal advice before they make any application or accept such an order. Some local authorities will pay a small sum for carers to get advice – but insist on using lawyers on their list.
The Grandparents Legal Centre understands the pressures carers face in these circumstances. We can provide independent, impartial and sound advice on what grandparents should do next.
